Vegetation eh? Well the best way is simply to take reference pictures and practice creating the same effect in whatever way you can. Draw from life as much as possible and learn to sketch the forms, play with different media to see how best to place those shapes on canvas.
Much of the concept work I do is set to mad deadlines so I tend to use textured brushes and simply build the forms with strokes. It's not the most realistic way to do it but it's usually good enough for the client to understand what I'm painting.
